Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been briefed on the progress of Digital Nepal Framework 2.0 and Nepal Telecom. On Monday, Prime Minister Oli held a briefing with Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, Secretary Radhika Aryal, and Telecom’s Acting Managing Director Sabina Maske Pradhan.
Minister Gurung informed Prime Minister Oli that groundwork has begun to expand and revise the Digital Nepal Framework in light of the government’s recent approval of the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy.
The new proposal has been prepared in the 2.0 format and includes the concept of infrastructure, access, capacity development, and transformation of the digital ecosystem.
According to the ministry, the revised framework has added new focus areas such as agriculture, education, health, tourism, finance, good governance, social security, disaster management, and climate change. For implementation, a Digital Transformation Council has been proposed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Communications to prioritize, monitor, and report on the framework.
The new Digital Nepal Framework will come into effect after approval from the Council of Ministers. Prime Minister Oli had previously endorsed the original Digital Nepal Framework in 2076 during his earlier term.
