Cyber Security Symposium And TechSprint Hackathon 2026 Announced In Bhaktapur

Kathmandu: The Cyber Security Symposium and TechSprint Hackathon 2026 will be held at Nepal Engineering College in Bhaktapur from January 16 to 19 (Magh 2–5). The event is being jointly organized by Nepal Engineering College and the Computer Engineering Students' Society (COES).
COES President Komal Adhikari said the program is being supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. According to him, the Cyber Security Symposium will be held on January 16. Discussions will focus on emerging cyber threats, ethical hacking, data privacy, secure software development, and cyber-related policy frameworks.
Officials from Nepal Police, the Cyber Bureau, and cybersecurity experts will take part in the symposium. Interested participants can register for the symposium through the official registration link.
Following the symposium, a 48-hour TechSprint Hackathon will begin on January 17. The hackathon will cover five categories: Fintech, Open Innovation, Internet of Things, e-Governance, and Technology Education. A total prize pool of Rs 120,000 has been allocated.
After the hackathon concludes, teams will submit and present their projects to the jury on January 19. Winners will be selected and prizes distributed on the same day.
Teams of up to four members can participate. Individuals without a team may also apply, and the organizers will assist in team formation. The hackathon is open to participants of all age groups from across Nepal who are interested in technology.
Applications are open until January 10. According to the organizers, 20 teams will be selected from the applicants. Selected teams will be required to pay a participation fee of Rs 2,000. The organizers said the hackathon will help participants turn ideas into projects while building practical skills.
