How to Register Your Name in the Voter List Online Using Your National Identity Card Number

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has made online voter list registration available. The service has been launched by integrating the Commission’s system with the National Identity Card system.
Earlier, citizens could pre-enroll with personal details through the Commission’s website, but they still had to visit the election office to provide biometrics and a photograph. Now, instead of pre-enrollment, users can complete the entire voter list registration process themselves.
Under the facilitation of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Commission and the National Identity Card and Registration Department prepared this system in a short time. Testing was completed on Thursday.
How to register
If you have a National Identity Card number, you can now register your name in the voter list online. For this, go to the Commission’s website (election.gov.np) or click here.
After opening the website, click on Online Pre-Enrollment or click here to go directly to the page.
There, you will see two options: Register a New Voter List and Update the List. Click on New Registration.
Inside, you will again see two options. The first is For registration in the voter list by a person who has registered details in the National Identity Card. Enter your National Identity Card number, English date of birth, and name in this section. At the end, complete the calculation shown on the screen until the red circle disappears. When the green circle appears, click on the blue Verify with NIN button.
After this, the Commission’s system will query the National Identity Card system. If the details match, the voter list registration process can begin. When the new page opens, your permanent address as per your citizenship will appear. If it doesn’t, fill it in manually.
Enter any missing personal details and click the Next button in the bottom-right corner. The citizenship details section will open. Fill in any missing information and select your polling station. If your address has changed due to relocation or marriage, you can upload the necessary documents and select a new polling station.
Then, indicate whether you have a disability and review all details carefully. Click on the Register button to complete your voter registration. After this, your registration will be finished, and you can save your voter number.
