DSP Summoned for Inquiry After ‘We Are Not Balen’s Police’ Remark Goes Viral

Kathmandu. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prasanna Raj Chaudhary, whose remarks stating, "We are not Balen's police, we are Nepal Police," recently went viral on social media, has been summoned to the District Police Office, Kailali, for an internal inquiry.

According to the District Police Office, Kailali, DSP Chaudhary has been called in for questioning as part of an internal review. Police said the inquiry will not be limited to his viral remarks but will also examine the overall security situation in his jurisdiction, his performance, and other administrative matters.

DSP Chaudhary, who serves as the chief of Sukhad Police Station, made the remarks during an interaction program with students. A video of the event later surfaced on social media and quickly went viral.

In the video, Chaudhary is heard saying, "We are not Balen's police, we are Nepal Police. We are the Nepal Police who deliver justice to those facing injustice and oppression. This is also the same police who arrested KP Oli. That's why we are Nepal Police."

He is also seen asking students to applaud if they agree with his statement.

During the interaction, Chaudhary further said that police uniforms are earned through service rather than given as gifts, adding that even the President is not permitted to wear a police uniform. He also remarked, "We did not come here by voting, applying tika, and eating alcohol with rice."

Although Chaudhary had asked those present not to record the interaction, the video was later shared on social media, where it attracted widespread attention.
