Kathmandu. Nepal Police's Cyber Bureau has arrested a man on charges of repeatedly sending obscene emails to a woman in an attempt to harass her and damage her reputation.
The suspect has been identified as 34-year-old Surendra Prasad Khanal, originally from Tansen Rural Municipality-5 in Tanahun and currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27.
According to the Cyber Bureau, the victim filed a complaint stating that she had been repeatedly receiving obscene emails, causing her mental distress and harming her character.
Following the complaint, police conducted a technical analysis and investigation, which led to Khanal's arrest on July 10 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27.
Police said Khanal is being investigated under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2006. The Kathmandu District Court has granted a five-day extension of his remand to facilitate further investigation into the case.
