Vedika KC Released After Arrest in Electronic Crime Case, Investigation Ongoing

Kathmandu. Vedika KC, who was arrested on allegations of electronic crimes, has been released while the investigation against her remains ongoing.
According to Cyber Bureau spokesperson SP Dilip Kumar Giri, KC was released at around 10:00 a.m. on Friday with the written consent of the government attorney's office, on the condition that she appear before the court when required.
KC, who identifies herself as an activist, was arrested by the Cyber Bureau from Jorpati on Thursday. The Kathmandu District Court had granted the bureau a one-day extension to continue its investigation. SP Giri said that although KC has now been released, the investigation into the case has not concluded.
In recent months, KC has appeared on various television programs and social media platforms, speaking against what she describes as harmful practices carried out in the name of religion. Following some of her public statements, a prominent storyteller alleged that her remarks had defamed their character and announced plans to initiate legal action against her.
KC, who is also the coordinator of GBS Educational Consultancy and comes from a business background, has been vocal about issues related to exploitation and alleged fraud conducted in the name of religion, traditions, and rituals.
