How to Archive Posts Using Wayback Machine, Archive Today, and Ghost Archive

Kathmandu. It is a common belief that once content is posted on social media or the internet, it can never be completely erased. Even if deleted, such content often persists in some form, either through user screenshots or archived links. Among these, archived links are generally considered more reliable and stronger evidence than screenshots. 

In this guide, we will explain how to archive posts from different social media platforms. This ensures that even if the original post is deleted, the archived version can still be accessed as proof.

In most cases, text posts and statuses can be archived easily. However, archiving videos is less reliable, as available tools do not always capture them successfully. While attempts can still be made to archive video content from various platforms, the results are not always guaranteed.

One of the most widely used and effective tools for archiving is the ‘Wayback Machine’, also known as a ‘web archive’. Once a page is archived there, it is preserved and can be accessed anytime through its archived link, making it a valuable resource for digital evidence and long-term content storage. 

How to use Wayback Machine?

• First of all, click here to go to the Wayback Machine website.

• Then click on the ‘Web’ option at the top.

• Then paste the link you want in the box labeled ‘Save Page Now’.

• After pasting the link, tap the save button.  

• Then tap the save page button here.

• After that, you will need to wait for a short while. Then click on the link that appears. Once you do this, the post will be successfully archived, and you can save the generated link for future reference.

Archive Today​

Another useful tool for archiving posts and links is Archive Today. This platform can be accessed through three URLs: archive.today, archive.ph, and archive.is. 

To use it:  simply copy the link you want to save and paste it into the provided box. After submitting it, the tool will begin archiving the page. Once the process is complete, you can copy the generated URL and store it for future access. This archived link will allow you to retrieve the saved version of the post at any time. Additionally, if you want to check whether a link has already been archived, you can paste it into the same search box. If an archive exists, it will be displayed.

Ghost Archive

Ghost Archive is another useful platform for archiving different posts and links. One of its key requirements is captcha verification, which is required each time it is used. However, it is often faster compared to Wayback Machine and Archive Today.
