Kathmandu Metropolitan to Provide Aid, Free Education to Children of Ganesh Nepali After Self-Immolation Death

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced that it will provide humanitarian assistance to the family of Ganesh Nepali, a ride-sharing driver from Mugu who died after attempting self-immolation in front of the Department of Passports, along with free education for his children and employment for one family member.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the metropolitan city said its upcoming executive meeting will formally endorse the decision to provide humanitarian relief, ensure free education for the deceased's children, and offer employment to one member of the bereaved family.
Ganesh Nepali, 25, originally from Mugu and residing in Bhaktapur, was associated with a ride-sharing platform. He attempted self-immolation in front of the Department of Passports in Tripureshwor on Thursday. He sustained severe burn injuries and died while undergoing treatment at Bir Hospital on Friday morning.
Expressing shock over the incident, Kathmandu Metropolitan City extended its condolences to Nepali's family and said it stands with them during this difficult time.
The metropolitan office also welcomed the Home Ministry's decision to form a committee to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident and pledged full cooperation with the inquiry. It stated that appropriate corrective and accountable measures would be implemented based on the committee's findings and recommendations.
