CodeFest 2026 Opens for +2 and Bachelor's Students, Offers Total Prize Pool of Rs 300,000

Kathmandu. Code for Change has announced CodeFest 2026, a nationwide hackathon for Plus Two and undergraduate students aimed at developing technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
According to the organizers, the competition will bring together students from all seven provinces to build innovative solutions under seven SDG themes: good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, industry, innovation and infrastructure, smart cities, climate action, and peace, justice, and strong institutions. While participants in six provinces can choose from all seven themes, the Koshi Province edition will focus exclusively on good health and well-being.
The provincial rounds will begin with a hackathon at Pokhara Engineering College from July 23 to 25, although the application deadline for that event has already closed.
Hackathons in Kathmandu and Dang will be held from July 31 to August 2, while Rupandehi will host its competition from August 1 to 2. Applications for these three locations will remain open until July 27.
The remaining provincial events are scheduled as follows:

Winners from each provincial round will advance to the National Grand Finale in Kathmandu, where a five-member jury comprising technology experts, startup specialists, business leaders, and government representatives will select the overall winners. The date and venue for the finale will be announced later.
The competition is open to students currently studying in Plus Two or awaiting their Grade 12 results, as well as undergraduate students enrolled in technology-related programs. Teams must consist of two to four members.
The registration fee is Rs 1,500 per team for the Plus Two category and Rs 2,500 for bachelor-level teams.
The National Grand Finale offers a total prize pool of Rs 300,000. In the Plus Two category, the winner will receive Rs 50,000, the first runner-up Rs 30,000, and the second runner-up Rs 20,000.
In the bachelor's category, the winning team will receive Rs 100,000, the first runner-up Rs 50,000, and the second runner-up Rs 25,000. In addition, two special category awards carrying Rs 10,000 each will also be presented. Students who want to participate in the competition can click here to apply.
