Kathmandu: Action is set to be taken against Nepal Police constable Madhav Prasad Bhugain after he posted a video on social media expressing dissatisfaction with his job while wearing his uniform. Bhugain, who is stationed in Banke, had made a 37-second TikTok video complaining about his transfer and promotion.
After the video went viral, it drew mixed reactions on social media. Some praised his statement, while others accused him of making the video under the influence of alcohol. Some also suspected misuse of the uniform, pointing out that the name mentioned in the video and the name on the uniform were different.
The District Police Office, Banke, has launched an internal investigation into the matter. According to the office’s Information Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Patali, necessary action will be taken against Bhugain as per police regulations.
Patali told TechPana, “He has no valid grounds to complain. He was only recently transferred and has not yet been promoted.”
In the video, Bhugain expressed his dissatisfaction by saying that only those with ‘power’ in the police service are given opportunities for promotion and transfer. He said, “If you want my job, then take it. But if those with power want to get a job, then give a job to those with power. If there is no job for poor and miserable people like us, then I will not get a job.”
It has not yet been disclosed what action will be taken against Bhugain.
