Ncell Pays Rs 3.29 Billion for Second Installment of License Renewal

Kathmandu: Ncell has paid the second installment of its license renewal fee to the government. The company deposited the amount in the Nepal Telecommunication Authority’s account a week ago, along with 10 percent annual interest.

Ncell paid Rs 3.29 billion with interest on August 22, informed Authority spokesperson Min Prasad Aryal. “Ncell had already paid Rs 2 billion in Asar (June/July) and later cleared the remaining Rs 3.29 billion,” Aryal said.

Of the renewal fee due by August 31, Ncell first deposited Rs 2 billion on July 10, and then paid the remaining Rs 3.29 billion with interest on August 22. The Authority had used the advance payment of Rs 2 billion from Ncell to purchase land in Khumaltar in the name of the Public Service Broadcasting Organization (then Radio Nepal).

Earlier, Ncell had paid Rs 4 billion on 27 May, 2024, renewing its mobile service license for five years after paying an additional Rs 1 billion in Bhadra of the same year. Last year, Ncell’s GSM mobile service license completed 20 years.

Ncell had requested the government to allow installment payments, stating it could not pay Rs 20 billion at once due to declining business. Accepting the request, the government granted the facility to pay the renewal fee in four installments with interest.
