Kathmandu: Lenovo has launched its new laptop, the IdeaPad Slim 3i, in the Nepali market. Equipped with a 13th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, 16 GB DDR5 RAM, and 512 GB SSD, this laptop is considered ideal for students and general office tasks. The company has made it available with a special discount under the ‘Back to College’ offer at the Hukut store.
The IdeaPad Slim 3i is a thin, portable 14-inch laptop with a simple yet attractive design. The company says that despite its plastic build, it is durable enough for daily use. Due to the matte finish, fingerprint stains may appear.
It features a wide Ultra XGA IPS anti-glare display with a 60 Hz refresh rate. The 16:10 aspect ratio provides more vertical height, reducing scrolling and making multitasking easier. With 300 nits of brightness, the display performs well indoors but can appear dim outdoors. The anti-glare panel offers a good experience for work and video viewing.
The laptop comes with an island-style backlit keyboard with well-spaced keys, providing comfort even during long typing sessions. It also includes a dedicated button for Microsoft Co-Pilot, which acts as an instant AI assistant. The trackpad is responsive and supports multi-finger gestures.
Powered by a 13th-generation Intel H-series Core i5 processor, the laptop has eight cores in total, four performance cores (P-cores) and four efficiency cores (E-cores). According to the company, it is suitable for multitasking, web browsing, content creation, and basic editing. With integrated Intel UHD graphics, the laptop supports smooth video playback, basic gaming, and general graphics tasks such as presentations or photo editing. Some games also run smoothly while other applications operate in the background. The device comes pre-installed with Windows 11 Home.
For storage, it includes 16 GB DDR5 RAM and 512 GB SSD. It is powered by a 50-watt-hour rechargeable Li-ion battery with Rapid Charge Boost support. The company claims it can run for two hours on a 15-minute charge. A 65-watt power adapter is provided in the box.
Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6. The ports consist of two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, one HDMI, a 3.5mm combo jack, an SD card reader, and a power connector.
The webcam offers average quality (720p, 30fps) but is adequate for video calls and meetings. The speakers deliver satisfactory sound for video watching. For security, face unlock and fingerprint scanner options are included but not yet compatible. These may be enabled in future updates.
Overall, most features of the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i are well-balanced for its price. However, according to TechPana’s review, the laptop would have been better with a higher screen refresh rate (90 Hz or 120 Hz) and a larger 80-watt-hour battery. Apart from this, it stands as a good option for students, teachers, remote workers, and content creators. Priced at Rs. 86,000, it is currently available at the Hukut store for Rs. 73,500 under the ‘Back to College’ offer.
