Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has reduced the transaction limit for ATM card withdrawals through the Unified Directive 2082 issued on Wednesday.
Under the revised arrangement, the per-transaction withdrawal limit has been reduced by Rs 5,000, the daily limit by Rs 50,000, and the monthly limit by Rs 100,000. With the new limits, customers can now withdraw a maximum of Rs 20,000 in a single ATM transaction, up to Rs 50,000 per day, and up to Rs 300,000 per month.
Previously, ATM users were allowed to withdraw up to Rs 25,000 per transaction, Rs 100,000 per day, and Rs 400,000 per month. Nepal Rastra Bank spokesperson Guru Prasad Paudel said the limits were revised in line with the policy to promote digital payments over cash transactions.
He added that directives issued over the past few months have now been consolidated into a single unified directive. The new directive allows ‘A’ category commercial banks to issue prepaid tags and cards based on RFID chips for collecting road usage fees (toll charges) from vehicles operating on roads and road sections designated by the Government of Nepal.
