Man Arrested Over Circulation of Former Partner’s Intimate Photos and Videos Online

 

Kathmandu. A 19-year-old man from Rautahat, currently residing in Kathmandu, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sharing intimate photos and videos of his former partner on Telegram and Discord after their relationship ended, according to the Cyber Bureau. The arrested individual has been identified as Bigyan Sharma Timalsina.

According to the Cyber Bureau, Timalsina was taken into custody on Wednesday following a complaint filed by the victim.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar Giri, spokesperson for the Cyber Bureau, said the suspect allegedly possessed intimate photos and videos recorded while the two were in a relationship.

“After the relationship ended, he allegedly began blackmailing the woman in various ways,” SSP Giri told TechPana. “So far, the investigation has not indicated any financial motive. During the initial inquiry, it was found that after the woman refused his demands, he uploaded the videos to Telegram and Discord channels.”

Police said the circulation of the intimate content on the platforms caused significant mental distress to the victim, prompting her to lodge a complaint with the Cyber Bureau.

Following a technical investigation and digital analysis, authorities identified Timalsina's alleged involvement in the case and subsequently arrested him.

According to SSP Giri, the Kathmandu District Court has granted police four days to investigate the case further.
