Nepali Private Sector Steps Onto Global Stage at SelectUSA Investment Summit

Kathmandu. Nepal has participated for the first time in the ‘SelectUSA’ investment summit held in the United States as a representative of the private sector, marking a new step in efforts to attract foreign investment and expand economic cooperation. The summit began on May 3 in Maryland, where Nepali companies engaged in discussions on market access and potential business partnerships with international investors, U.S. government officials, and economic development stakeholders.
The Nepali delegation, led by Executive Director Amir Thapa, participated in the summit in coordination with the American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal). The delegation included ICT firms such as Biz Serve, Swift Fin, Codavatar, Green Tick, and Event Mo.
During the visit, aimed at strengthening Nepal–U.S. trade and investment relations, the delegation held meetings with senior officials from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Bethany P. Morrison expressed readiness to support improvements in Nepal’s business environment and private sector development. Likewise, Nepal’s Chief Deputy Ambassador, Sharad Raj Aran, said Nepali enterprises have the potential to establish a stronger presence in the global market.
Kailash Bijayananda, Chair of AmCham Nepal, said the participation would help Nepali companies become more competitive internationally. He also welcomed recent policy reforms by the Government of Nepal in the information technology sector, stating that such changes could help showcase Nepali talent on a global platform.
