Police Arrest Two Individuals for Leaking Class 12 Exam Questions on Social Media

Kathmandu. Police have arrested two individuals on charges of leaking Class 12 examination question papers and answer sheets on social media before the exams were conducted.

The Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Nirajan Shahi, 37, originally from Surkhet and currently residing in Kathmandu, and Prem Kumar Shrestha, 30, originally from Dhading and residing in Kathmandu, from Chabahil on Monday.

According to Police Superintendent Dilip Kumar Giri, spokesperson for the bureau, the arrests were made following technical analysis and investigation carried out on the basis of a complaint and correspondence from the National Examination Board.

Police said the accused had created multiple WhatsApp groups under the name “Class 12 Management only” along with Facebook Messenger groups to circulate the question papers and answers before the examinations, violating the confidentiality of the exams.

Both individuals are currently under investigation under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063. The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to keep them in custody for four days for further investigation.
