Former Crown Prince Hridayendra’s Vlog Gains Popularity on Social Media

Kathmandu: Former Crown Prince Hridayendra Shah’s vlog on Jumla, released Wednesday on the occasion of his birthday, is gaining attention on social media. The 15-minute, 23-second video was published on the 'Hri B B Shah' Facebook page at 8:27 p.m. and has already been viewed over 218,000 times at the time of writing. Various media outlets and social media users have also reshared or trimmed the video for their YouTube channels and Facebook pages.

Many viewers have praised Hridayendra’s humble demeanor and thanked him for showcasing the beauty of Jumla through his blog.

Hridayendra visited Jumla in the last week of Jestha with his mother, Himani Shah. A video of him shoveling soil during the foundation stone laying ceremony for a birth center being constructed by Himani Trust in Manisanghu had gone viral at the time.

The vlog begins with Hridayendra seated on a stone by the Tila River, where he introduces Jumla and interacts with local residents. He also visits an apple orchard in the region.

As part of his vlog, he stops by a coffee shop run by a young entrepreneur who moved from Kathmandu to Jumla for business. Hridayendra orders a milk coffee and chats about anime and desserts with the shop owner. When offered a cheesecake, he gladly accepts and commends the owner for starting a business in Jumla at a time when many Nepalis are leaving the country for employment.

He also visits Karnali Technical School, which was established during the reign of King Mahendra. He tours the school alongside students and local resident Boman Upadhyay.

Later, Hridayendra arrives at Dudul Chaitya to take in the scenic views of Jumla, where he meets local Panchakali Budha. Panchakali shares information about the area, sings local songs, and encourages Hridayendra to explore more of Jumla.

During their conversation, Panchakali asks, “When will our Nepal become prosperous?” Hridayendra responds, “If people do good work and everything goes well, it will happen. We also have to work a little, we have to be a little brave, and it will happen.”

He also mentions to Panchakali that he went abroad only to complete his bachelor’s degree and plans to return to Nepal. The video ends with him taking selfies and chatting with locals, saying this was his first time in Jumla but he will keep returning in the future.
