Fact Check: Annapurna Post, NEB Result And More Spreads Misleading News, Claims Flying Car Has Arrived in Nepal

Kathmandu: On the front page of Annapurna Post Daily on August 6, 2025, a report titled ‘Flying Car Has Arrived in Nepal’ was published. The article also appeared on Annapurna Post’s website at 8:59 a.m. The report claimed that a flying car had been brought to Nepal for display at the upcoming NADA Auto Show 2025. However, TechPana Fact Check has verified this claim to be false.

MAW Vriddhi Auto Corp Pvt. Ltd., the official distributor of the Deepal EV brand in Nepal, only announced plans to bring the Deepal eVTOL UAV car for exhibition at the show. The claim that the vehicle has already arrived is untrue.

Claim

On August 6, 2025, Annapurna Post Daily published a front-page story by Mamata Thapa titled ‘Flying Car Has Arrived in Nepal’.

The same report was published online at 8:59 a.m. (See the original news and archived version). The lead line reads: “Flying cars have arrived in Nepal.” (Translated)

The article mentions that the vehicle will be exhibited at the NADA Auto Show 2025, scheduled to take place from August 19–24 at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Grounds in Kathmandu.

The report was shared in two formats on Annapurna Post’s Facebook page, once as a link and once as a separate post. As of the time of writing, the linked post has received 332 reactions, 35 comments, and six shares. (See the original, archived post, and screenshot.)

The image post has garnered over 2,500 reactions, 473 comments, and 75 shares. (See the original, archived post, and screenshot.)

Research

Following the publication by Annapurna Post, an online outlet named ShantiNepal.com also posted a similar report. (See archived link.)

Several Facebook pages copied and reposted the content. A search for the phrase “flying car has arrived” (translated) reveals numerous related posts. One of the earliest appeared on the Facebook page NEB Result and News, showing a car flying with a caption resembling Annapurna Post’s style. The post reads: “You can buy it: For the first time, a flying car has arrived in Nepal. Nepal has become the first country in South Asia to introduce a flying car.” (Translated)

As of writing, this post had over 23,000 reactions, more than 2,000 comments, and at least 163 shares. The initial version only included the caption; the photo was added later. (See the original post, archived version, and screenshot.)

Other outlets like Bandana Prakasan, Khabar Nepali, Shiksha, Himali Patrika, and Citizen HD have also reposted the same misleading claim. (Find archive links here, here, here, here, and here.)

To verify the claim, we reviewed video footage from the press conference held Tuesday. Tekpana’s correspondent and camera crew were present at the event. The official statement in the video never claimed that the Deepal EVTOL flying car had already arrived in Nepal.

We then contacted a company representative, who confirmed: “We have not yet brought it in. We are preparing. It will be displayed at the NADA Auto Show, but we cannot say exactly when it will arrive.”

Additionally, the second-last paragraph of Annapurna Post’s article reads: “Nepal is set to become the first country in South Asia to introduce flying cars, even if it is in the name of an auto exhibition.” This contradicts the headline and lead, which clearly state that the car has already “arrived.” The inconsistency reflects confusion within the article itself.

Misleading social media pages are using this contradiction to spread false narratives that Nepal has already imported a flying car. In reality, no such vehicle has entered Nepal. How can Nepal be the first in South Asia to import one?

In fact, flying cars have already been displayed at India’s auto expos, where pilot flights and test runs have also been conducted. (Watch the video here.)

Claim

A flying car has entered Nepal. It has been brought for display at the NADA Auto Show 2025, to be held in the third week of August. As a result, Nepal has become the first country in South Asia to import flying cars.

Claimant

Annapurna Post Daily and its online edition, ShantiNepal.com, Facebook pages including NEB Result and News, Bandana Prakashan, Khabar Nepali, Shiksha, Himali Patrika, Citizen HD, among others

Fact
The claim that a flying car has entered Nepal, circulated by online media and Facebook pages, including Annapurna Post, is false. The Deepal eVTOL flying car has not arrived in Nepal. It was only announced that the vehicle will be brought for display at the NADA Auto Show. A representative of the car’s official distributor, MAW Vriddhi Auto Corp Pvt. Ltd., confirmed that preparations are underway, but the car has not yet been brought.

Conclusion
The claim that a flying car has entered Nepal is false. Only an announcement was made about bringing the vehicle; it has not yet arrived. News media and social media platforms have created confusion by presenting the announcement as confirmed fact.
