Pokhara University to Offer New Mechanical Engineering Degree, Spotlighting Robotics and Automation

Kathmandu: Pokhara University is introducing a bachelor’s degree program in mechanical engineering, with admissions starting this academic session. The university has invited applications for the entrance examination.

This program, available exclusively at the university’s School of Engineering, is designed to produce skilled manpower to meet industrial demands, said Buddhiraj Joshi, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

“We have developed the curriculum with a focus on recent industry trends, automation, and robotics,” Joshi told TechPana. “It also includes artificial intelligence and machine learning concepts essential for automation.”

The course will enroll 48 students, of which 10 will receive scholarships. The total fee for the four-year program is Rs. 587,200. “Full scholarships will be awarded to nine students under the poor and meritorious category. One additional scholarship will be given to the top-performing student each semester,” Joshi added.

The program will be taught over eight semesters, covering subjects such as engineering drawing, thermodynamics, mechanics, workshop technology, robotics, automotive technology, energy and environment, and design.

Admission Committee Coordinator and Associate Professor Dr. Suresh Baral said applications for the entrance exam are now open. The deadline for submission is August 28. Students can apply for the full-fee program by clicking here, and for the scholarship program by clicking here.
