Kathmandu Installs 62 High-Mast Lights For Dashain, 12 Already Operational

Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is installing 62 high-mast lights around the city at a cost of about Rs 100 million. Of them, 12 have already come into operation. The metropolis aims to light all of them before Dashain.

The installation work had been stalled for three years due to various reasons. It has now gained momentum. Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) said the project under the Ujyalo Mahanagar Yojana is moving ahead rapidly.

“So far, 12 lights have been lit. Preparations are underway to light the rest before Dashain,” Shah wrote on social media.

He also said more than 2,000 solar street lights installed during the previous term but left unused have been converted to electricity and put into operation. According to him, the purchase and installation of additional street lights worth about Rs 850 million is in the final stage.
