Ncell Launches VoWiFi Service Allowing Calls and SMS Without Mobile Network

Kathmandu: Have you faced problems talking on the phone due to a weak mobile network? Does your phone fail to get a proper signal at home, in your room, or at the office? Or have you been to places with no mobile signal at all?

If you have Wi-Fi access even when your mobile signal is weak, you no longer need to worry. To solve such issues, Ncell has introduced VoWiFi (Voice over Wi-Fi), which provides high-quality voice calls and SMS services through Wi-Fi.

With this feature, you can make and receive calls via Wi-Fi even when your mobile network is weak or unavailable. This means you can talk normally on your mobile phone wherever Wi-Fi is available, without facing issues like call drops or unclear voice quality. However, the Wi-Fi signal needs to be strong for a smooth experience.

According to Ncell, this service allows users to make calls anywhere across Nepal using any Wi-Fi connection without interruptions. The company says the number of customers using this feature has already exceeded 35,000.

There is no additional charge for using VoWiFi. Customers are billed at the same rate as their regular voice and SMS charges, even in areas where the mobile signal is poor or unavailable but Wi-Fi is accessible.

To use this feature, your smartphone must support VoWiFi or Wi-Fi calling. You can activate it by enabling the setting on your phone. Once activated, the service automatically switches between Wi-Fi and mobile networks without interruption when you move in and out of mobile signal areas.

This technology is especially useful indoors or in remote areas where mobile networks are weak. Ncell’s VoWiFi service currently works on iPhone 8 and newer models, all Honor and ZTE phones, six Nothing models, and over 50 Samsung smartphones.

Ncell said it is also preparing to expand the service to Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo devices soon, allowing more users to benefit from it.

To activate the service, make sure your smartphone supports VoLTE and VoWiFi (Wi-Fi Calling). Then, go to your phone settings, select your SIM card, and turn on VoWiFi or Wi-Fi Calling. Once enabled, you can make and receive calls using your Ncell number over any Wi-Fi connection.

If you see VoWiFi or Wi-Fi Calling in your phone’s settings, it means your device supports this feature. Ncell has also released a video tutorial explaining how to activate and use VoWiFi.
