Balen Becomes Most Followed Nepali on Facebook, Surpasses Sanvi Bhagat

Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has become the most followed Nepali on Facebook after surpassing content creator Sanvi Bhagat.

As of the time of publication, Balen’s official Facebook page has 4.4 million followers, while TikToker Sanvi Bhagat’s Facebook account has 4.3 million followers.

On February 3, Balen’s official Facebook page had around 3.4 million followers. His follower count rose rapidly following his election as Prime Minister. In the past 50 days alone, nearly 900,000 new followers have been added to his Facebook.  

Prime Minister Shah has also stated that his social media presence is a major source of income. While disclosing his asset details on Sunday, he said he had Rs. 14.6 million deposited in his bank account. According to him, a significant portion of this income was earned through digital and music streaming platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Spotify, and iTunes.

Balen also operates a separate Facebook account, which has more than 504,000 followers. In addition, he has more than 436,000 followers on TikTok, about 1.3 million on YouTube, more than 78,000 on Spotify, over  100,000 on LinkedIn, and more than 1.9 million on Instagram.
