Syangja Police Arrest 20-Year-Old Man for Sexual Harassment After Woman Refuses to Share Phone Number

Kathmandu. A 20-year-old man from Putalibazar Municipality-1 in Syangja has been arrested by police after committing an obscene act against a woman whom he had offered a motorcycle ride in the early morning hours of Tuesday in the Malebagar area of the same municipality.
The arrested individual has been identified as Divas Sunar, a resident of Ward No. 1 of Putalibazar Municipality.
According to the District Police Office, Syangja, the incident occurred at around 7:00 AM when the accused picked up an unfamiliar woman on his motorcycle. Police said that after reaching a secluded section of the road in Malebagar, he stopped the vehicle and asked for her mobile number. When the woman refused to share her mobile number, Sunar exposed his private parts and behaved obscenely and inappropriately.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Prasanna Raj Chaudhary said a special police team was deployed after the victim filed a complaint, and the accused was arrested while attempting to flee the area. Investigation reveals that the accused may have been involved in similar incidents in the past, though police said further inquiry is ongoing.
Police have initiated legal proceedings against the accused and urged the public to remain cautious when accepting rides from strangers and to report suspicious behaviour immediately.
