Nepal Police Launches Digital Citizen Complaint Service With Photo and Video Evidence Features

Kathmandu. Citizens can now file police complaints from home through a mobile application, as Nepal Police has launched a new digital complaint registration system aimed at making services faster, more accessible, and citizen-friendly.

The ‘Citizen Assistance and Complaint Management’ service was officially launched on Tuesday during a program held at the Central Police Office. Speaking at the event, Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said the initiative aims to deliver quicker and more efficient public service through digital technology.

Under the system, citizens can now register complaints online through the official “Nepal Police” mobile app by providing details related to incidents or crimes.

According to Nepal Police, complaints can be directed to the concerned district or local police office based on the location of the incident.

Deputy Inspector General Abhi Narayan Kafle said the service is expected to reduce the need for citizens to physically visit police stations to file complaints. “We believe this service will make police operations more transparent and citizen-friendly,” Kafle told TechPana.

To use the service, users must first download and sign up on the official Nepal Police mobile application. The app includes a “Register Complaint” feature, allowing users to submit complaints under different categories.

One of the key features of the system is the ability to upload supporting evidence, such as photos, audio clips, and videos, along with complaints. Users can also share the location of incidents directly through the app and track the status of their complaints after submission.

“The app includes features ranging from location tracking of incidents to uploading audio-video evidence. Citizens can also regularly monitor updates on their complaints through the application,” police spokesperson Kafle said.

The app currently includes separate complaint categories for accidents, cybercrime, theft, domestic violence, narcotics-related cases, and financial crimes. According to police officials, the categorization is intended to help concerned departments respond more quickly and efficiently.

Nepal Police said additional features currently under testing are also being refined as part of broader efforts to strengthen digital policing and improve communication between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
