Special Court Convicts Former NTA Chairman Digambar Jha in Teramocs Corruption Case, Acquits Ex-Minister Mohan Basnet

Kathmandu. The Special Court has convicted three former officials of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), including former NTA chairman Digambar Jha, in the Teramocs corruption case, while acquitting former Communications Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet and several others.
The court found Jha guilty along with former NTA board members Dhanraj Gyawali and Tika Upreti. The verdict follows a corruption case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on 15 May 2025.
Former Communications Minister Mohan Bahadur Basnet was acquitted of all charges. The court also cleared former NTA chairman Purushottam Khanal and former authority officials Achyutananda Mishra, Surendra Lal Hada, Bijay Kumar Rai, Rewati Ram Panth, Dipesh Acharya, Suresh Basnet, Hiranya Prasad Bastakoti, and Sandip Adhikari.
In addition, the Special Court acquitted offshore supplier Vanrise Solutions SAL, its CEO Jamal Anouti, the company's local agent Trade Link Pvt. Ltd., and its chairman Dilip Kumar Gurung.
The CIAA had accused the defendants of corruption related to the procurement and implementation of the Teramocs system. The court has convicted three former NTA officials, while acquitting all remaining defendants named in the case.
