Sukuna School Says Social Media Is Targeting Innocent Staff, Urges Fair Investigation Into Abuse Allegations

Kathmandu. Sukuna Secondary School in Sundarharaicha Municipality-10, Morang, has issued a public statement expressing concern that social media is being used to make allegations against innocent teachers and staff while investigations into sexual abuse claims are still ongoing.

In a joint statement released by the school administration, the School Management Committee, and the Teachers-Parents Association, the school said it supports a fair investigation and believes those found guilty should face strict legal action while victims receive justice. It added that all teachers and staff directly implicated in the allegations have been immediately suspended and that the school is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities.

However, the school said it is concerned that unverified accusations circulating on social media are harming the morale of innocent teachers and staff and damaging the institution's long-standing reputation before the investigation is completed.

"The repeated activities of making baseless accusations against even innocent teachers and staff to lower their morale, destroy the long-standing reputation of Sukuna Secondary School, and damage the dignity of innocent teachers and staff through publicity rather than evidence and facts make us extremely sad," the statement said.

The school also urged students and the public to report complaints or suggestions related to matters beyond teaching and learning through official channels, including the school administration, the grievance committee, the School Management Committee, the municipal education branch, or the local police.

To address complaints, the school has formed a five-member grievance hearing committee comprising representatives from the School Management Committee, the Teachers-Parents Association, and the ward office.

Since July 18, the Facebook page 'S/K/N Confession & Meme' has been publishing anonymous testimonies from current and former students alleging sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior, and abuse by teachers and staff. The posts include screenshots that show teachers sending sexually explicit messages late at night, asking students for intimate photographs and video calls, and offering higher practical marks or leaked examination questions in exchange. Other allegations include inappropriate physical contact and requests for students to visit teachers' rooms at night.

Students have also accused the school's bus driver of sending unwanted messages to female students. Separate allegations claim the principal sent late-night messages and later attempted to justify inappropriate touching by saying he treated the student "like a daughter."

Following the publication of the allegations, police arrested teachers Abiral Maskey and Kishor Lal Gachhadar, along with school bus driver Pradip Bhattarai, on Monday. On Tuesday, dance instructor Bhim Prasad Nepal was also arrested as the investigation continues.
