Exhibition Showcases Student Projects: from Dancing Robots to Emotion Detection Systems

Kathmandu: The ‘Presidential InnoVista 2025’ exhibition has begun at the Presidential Graduate School in Kathmandu. Organized as a technology and business carnival, the event aims to showcase outstanding student projects developed at the college.

The exhibition will run until 10 AugustShrawan at the college, which is affiliated with American Westcliff University. According to the college, the event highlights student innovation, digital creativity, and future-ready skills. Key attractions include workshops on AI, robotics, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, stock trading simulations, business stalls, club activities, and fun games.

The program is targeted at +2 graduates, undergraduate students, and youth with a strong interest in IT. It offers a glimpse into technical learning, networking, and future academic pathways, free of charge.

The Presidential Graduate School offers programs such as BSc IT, MSc IT, Data Analytics, and an MBA in IT. At this event, final-year BSc IT students are presenting 50 projects related to AI, software and web development, cybersecurity, and multimedia. Executive Chairman Laxman KC stated that these projects, developed by around 170 students, hold both technical and commercial potential.

Projects on display include the F-Peev drone (which showers flowers), Robo Soccers (football-playing robots), Dancing Robot (which dances to music), and an AI-powered Emotion Detection System that reads facial expressions and recommends music accordingly. The flower-dropping drone used during the opening ceremony is expected to have potential applications in delivery services in the future.

KC added that cybersecurity-focused projects aim to address challenges like online fraud, data breaches, and banking security. Other featured innovations include smart irrigation systems, smart home systems with automatic gas leak detection and alarm shut-off, tourism promotion software, and autonomous or remote-controlled vehicles equipped with 360-degree cameras.

The school’s Startup Incubation Center supports the commercialization of these innovations. Through collaboration with students, the center prepares projects for market readiness and potential investment. “Our goal is to show that such innovations are possible in Nepal too,” said Executive Chairman KC. “These projects are developed from scratch by students, and we plan to continue this annually.”

The school currently enrolls 1,200 students and employs over 80 professors and 20 management staff. Kalpana Gurung, Director and Principal of the Presidential Graduate School, said, “This event will be organized every year. We will invite industrialists and investors to provide students with startup and employment opportunities.”
