Kathmandu: Ambition Guru College has launched the ‘Learn and Earn’ program, promising students a job as soon as they enroll. Although it may sound unusual, the college says this initiative is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. According to Ambition Guru, students enrolled in BSc CSIT, BCA, and BBA programs start working from the very next day. Admissions are still open.
‘Learn and Earn’ Program: Study, Work, and Gain Experience
The program’s main goal is to give students hands-on experience by combining academic learning with real work. This allows them to cover their college fees on their own. Students attend classes in the morning and work on Ambition Guru’s projects in the afternoon, for which they receive a salary.
Since theoretical knowledge alone is not enough in IT, the college provides classroom facilities, regular training, and guidance from experienced faculty. Campus Head Prakash Pandey said students feel connected to the college as though they are part of the company.
BCA second-semester student Lisa Kunwar said she began her internship immediately after joining. She gained valuable exposure to quality assurance and coding while also receiving financial support.
Another student, Sudip Sundas, said he has been interning in web development since his first semester. He expressed satisfaction that he does not need to search for an internship after graduation, as he is already learning under industry professionals.
Unlike most colleges where students only receive a degree, Ambition Guru’s program gives them corporate exposure during their studies. Students graduate not only with certificates but also with skills, work experience, and entrepreneurial knowledge. BCA student Ashim Karmacharya said he adapted to a corporate setting from the first day, learning workplace behavior and culture. He believes this will make his career transition smoother after graduation.
Campus Chief Pandey said the program ensures that students no longer have to “wander around” in search of internships later. Most of the college’s students are already working on Ambition Guru’s projects.
“Ambition Guru currently employs about 1,000 full-time and part-time staff, but we still need more,” Pandey said. “Hiring from outside takes time, as new recruits need training. With this program, our own students gain experience while contributing to our projects, even if they aren’t perfect yet.”
Encouraging Entrepreneurship: Rs 10 Million ‘Seed Fund’
Ambition Guru College has also launched an Idea Incubation Program with a Rs 10 million seed fund to support student innovation. The initiative ensures that promising ideas developed in a nurturing environment do not fade due to lack of investment.
According to Pandey, up to 10 projects a year will receive initial funding of Rs 1 million each, with additional support available as needed. The goal is to help students transform their ideas into companies.
With funding for studies, internships, jobs, and startups, Ambition Guru College says it aims to fully prepare students for the future.
