Police Warn Against Facebook Live Scams Disguised as Fortune-Telling and Lottery Games

Kathmandu: The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has urged the public to stay alert as cases of fraud through Facebook Live are increasing. Issuing a warning on Monday through its official Facebook page, the police said several people have been tricked into sending money through fake fortune-telling and lottery game livestreams.

According to the police, scammers are creating Facebook pages under various names, pretending to conduct fortune-telling or lottery sessions. They lure victims by showing cards being scratched live and promising prizes or lucky draws, ultimately taking money from viewers.

“We request everyone not to fall for such false temptations and to stay cautious of these scams,” the police said in their statement. They have also urged the public to report such activities by calling Nepal Police at 100 or contacting the District Police Range, Kathmandu, at 9851283012.
