Kathmandu: The traffic police’s online service has been suspended after the Electronic Driving License Vehicle Registration System (EDLVRS) server at the Department of Transport Management in Min Bhavan was damaged during the Gen-Z protests on September 8 and 9.
According to police, both the online traffic action system and the online awareness classes have been stopped after the server was destroyed in the arson and vandalism incidents.
The traffic police’s online enforcement system, where violations were processed through e-challan by scanning QR codes on the Nagarik App, was directly linked to the department’s EDLVRS server, as was the API for online awareness classes.
Police said they will not be able to take online action until the damaged server is restored. For now, drivers found violating traffic rules will be issued manual tickets valid for 24 hours.
The Department of Transport Management has instructed all transport offices to provide services using existing records or personal documents until the EDLVRS system becomes operational again.
The department’s Minbhawan office suffered severe damage to its physical infrastructure, electrical systems, and the EDLVRS server during the protests. As a result, all online services of the department have been disrupted.
