Cyber Bureau Warns of Phishing Scams Targeting Bank Customers

Kathmandu: The Cyber Bureau has warned the public to stay alert as phishing attacks targeting customers of banks and financial institutions are on the rise. In a notice issued on social media on Wednesday, the bureau urged people to think carefully before clicking on any suspicious links.

According to the bureau, fraudsters are increasingly creating fake websites that look identical to those of banks and financial institutions. These phishing links are being shared on social media and various online platforms to deceive users and collect OTP codes under false pretenses.

The bureau has advised users to verify the official websites, mobile apps, and social media pages of their respective banks and financial institutions before providing any information.

“The Cyber Bureau requests everyone to obtain information only from the official pages and websites of the banks and financial institutions they use, instead of following tempting posts circulating online,” the notice stated.
