Saptari Village Chairman Resigns After Video of Ward Chair Giving Foot Massage Goes Viral

Kathmandu: Dinanath Chaudhary, Chairperson of Agnisair Krishnaswaran Rural Municipality in Saptari, has resigned after a video showing the acting ward chair giving him a foot massage went viral. He stepped down following widespread criticism that his actions violated the code of conduct for public representatives.

The video spread rapidly on TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube. After it went public, Chaudhary submitted his resignation letter to Vice-Chairperson Kalpana Chaudhary. The rural executive meeting held on Tuesday accepted his resignation.

In his resignation letter, Chaudhary stated that he could no longer continue his official duties due to personal reasons.

The viral clip shows acting ward chair Hari Khanga of Ward No. 5 massaging the feet of Chairperson Chaudhary.

Chaudhary, who was elected from UML, has now been replaced by Vice-Chairperson Kalpana Chaudhary, who will serve as acting chairperson of the rural municipality.

Although his resignation has been accepted, Chaudhary’s name and photo had not been removed from the rural municipality’s official website at the time of this report.
