Man Held for Forcing Minor to Share Obscene Photos on Messenger

Kathmandu: Police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of blackmailing and defaming a minor through social media. The arrested individual, Jeevan Kumar Sah, is a permanent resident of Kalyanpur Municipality-11 in Siraha and currently resides in Babarmahal, Kathmandu.

According to police, Sah befriended the minor on Facebook and coerced her into showing her sensitive body parts via Messenger. He reportedly took screenshots and screen recordings, then created a fake Facebook account using the explicit photos and videos to upload the content.

Following a complaint from the victim, a team from the Cyber Bureau carried out an investigation and technical analysis. Sah was arrested on Monday from Mirchaiya in Siraha, where the crime took place.

Superintendent of Police and Bureau spokesperson Deepak Raj Awasthi said the Kathmandu District Court has extended Sah’s remand by five days for further investigation.
