Pentester Nepal Warns Against Misuse of Sensitive Data After Election Data Leak Claims

Kathmandu: After reports of an alleged Election Commission data leak spread on social media, Pentester Nepal, a cybersecurity community, has issued a public alert. On Tuesday, the group urged everyone not to misuse any such data, calling it extremely sensitive and vital to national security.

The community said information related to the Election Commission is of national importance and must be handled responsibly. It expressed serious concern that citizens' personal data could be at risk following unverified claims circulating online.

“If you find any weaknesses, suspicious activity, or evidence of possible leaks, please contact the Election Commission or send us a direct message,” the community said. “We will mobilize all available resources to verify, analyze, and help resolve the issue responsibly without putting citizens’ data at further risk.”

Pentester Nepal has requested that no such data be published, shared, or misused. It also urged anyone who discovers potential vulnerabilities or suspicious activity to report them to the proper authorities instead of making them public.

The community stressed the need for collective effort to protect Nepal’s digital infrastructure and respond responsibly to sensitive incidents like this.
