Kathmandu: Nepali-made electronic voting machines will be used at the 11th National Convention of the CPN-UML, scheduled from December 13 to 14. For this purpose, UML signed an agreement on Thursday with Ballot Solution Pvt. Ltd. under the Ram-Lakshman Group.
A total of 90 voting machines will be used to facilitate voting by more than 2,000 delegates arriving from across the country. UML estimates that around Rs 50 lakh will be spent for this arrangement.
The general convention will elect a 251-member central committee, including 15 office bearers. It is estimated that each delegate will take around 20 minutes to cast their vote using the electronic voting machines.
Earlier, UML had also used electronic voting machines at its 10th General Convention held in 2021. At that time as well, the party used machines produced by Ram-Lakshman Innovation, spending around Rs 50 lakh.
