Three Arrested in Dhanusha for Spreading Religious Rumors on TikTok and Vandalizing Mosque

Kathmandu: Police have arrested three people on charges of spreading religious rumors on TikTok and vandalizing a mosque in Dhanusha.
Those arrested for spreading religious rumors are 19-year-old Haider Ansari and 19-year-old Amanat Ansari. Both are residents of Sakhuwa Tole in Kamala Municipality-6, Dhanusha. The District Police Office, Dhanusha said they are being investigated through the District Court, Dhanusha for religious offenses under Section 156 of the Criminal Code, 2074 BS.
Police said the two were taken into custody for using abusive language and spreading rumors targeting a community through TikTok.
In the same case, police also arrested 25-year-old Ram Pratap Sah, alias Kapil, on Saturday at around 2 pm. He was taken into custody on charges of vandalizing a mosque in Kamala Municipality-6. Police said Sah threw documents and burned religious texts inside the mosque.
Ganesh Bahadur Bam, spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Dhanusha, said an investigation has been initiated against Sah under Section 155 of the Criminal Code, 2074 BS.
He said the search for other individuals involved in the mosque vandalism incident is ongoing.
Police have also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who posts, likes, shares, or comments on content related to such activities on social media platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
