Fact Check: Scam Post Goes Viral Claiming Trump Is Planning To Pick Up Oli After Venezuelan President
पुस २५, २०८२ १३:९
Kathmandu: For the past few days, a post has been going viral on Facebook with a photo of US President Donald Trump and Nepal’s former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli. The post, which appears to be a link to a news story, claims that US President Trump is preparing to “pick up” Oli after taking action against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
A fact check by TechPana has found that the post is misleading. The link is not connected to any legitimate news organization. It was created to lure users to scam websites using clickbait tactics.
Claim
A Facebook page named ‘Phai-Futtey’ posted a screenshot with the caption “Ayo Po Ta” on January 6, 2025, at 8:24 pm. The caption visible at the top of the screenshot reads: “Trump’s warning to kidnap Oli on the charge of killing young children after the Venezuela president, See more….”
Below the caption is a photo of US President Donald Trump and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The linked site name shown is ‘Videoo.link’. Below it, the same line is repeated: “Trump’s warning to kidnap Oli on the charge of killing young children after the Venezuela president.”
As of the time of writing, the post has received more than 3,000 reactions, 518 comments, and has been shared 197 times.

Investigation
During the investigation, the TechPana Fact Check Desk searched Facebook using keywords such as ‘Venezuela president’, ‘Trump warning’, ‘Charges against Oli’, and similar phrases. During this process, multiple posts with the same wording and image were found circulating across Nepali Facebook groups.
A Facebook user named Raju Ghimire was found to have shared the same post in a Facebook group called ‘Rastriya Swatantra Party Baudhik Samuha, where he is a moderator. The post was shared on January 6, 2025, at 7:58 pm. The caption reads, “Trump’s warning to kidnap Oli on charges of murdering young children after the president of Venezuela, now you are See more….” Below the caption is the same photo of Donald Trump and KP Sharma Oli, followed by a link to VIDEOO.LINK with the same headline text.

Raju Ghimire shared the same link in dozens of other Facebook groups, including ‘Rabi Lamichhane Fan’, ‘Let’s All Help Balen Shah’, ‘Kamala Ghimire Fan’, ‘ABC Indreni FANS’, and ‘Raju Pariyar Fan Club’.
The same link was also shared by Facebook pages such as ‘A24’, ‘Nepali News’, and ‘a5’. During the investigation, it was found that the link structure and post format used by these pages were identical. This indicates that the same individual or network is operating these pages.
Although the title only mentions the name “Oli,” the attached photo clearly shows KP Sharma Oli alongside US President Donald Trump. This suggests that the post intentionally uses ambiguity to attract clicks.
The domain Videoo.link appears in the space where legitimate news domains such as techpana.com, bbc.com, or forbes.com normally appear. However, it is not a news website. It is a suspicious third-party URL forwarding site.
When users click the link, they are redirected to betting sites, adult websites, or other illegal platforms. This confirms that the post is not connected to any real news content.
Further investigation shows that Videoo.link redirects through another platform known as daady.link, which is a URL-forwarding service. Such services allow link creators to redirect users to any destination of their choice. These links are often used for phishing.
In some cases, such redirected pages may imitate platforms like Gmail, Facebook, or banking websites. If users enter their login details on such pages, their information can be stolen. Therefore, users should be extremely cautious before clicking such links.
Since the link itself is deceptive and designed to redirect users to unrelated and potentially harmful websites, there is no need to fact-check the photo itself. However, to verify the claim, TechPana also searched for any credible news reports suggesting that Donald Trump was preparing to take action against KP Sharma Oli.
No such news was found in any national or international media outlet. There is no official statement, record, or report supporting the claim.
Based on these findings, the claim that Trump is preparing to take action against Oli is false, and the link used to promote it is a phishing link.
Claim
After taking action against Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, US President Donald Trump has warned or prepared to take Nepal’s former Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli under control on charges of killing young children.

Fact
The Videoo.link used in the post is not associated with any legitimate news organization. It is a URL-forwarding platform designed to redirect users to betting, adult, or other illegal websites. The link appears to have been shared to generate income through click-through rates (CTR).
There is no official or credible news confirming that Donald Trump made any statement or warning against KP Sharma Oli. There is also no record of Trump accusing Oli of child murder.
The post uses clickbait language and misleading photos to deceive users and encourage clicks.
Conclusion
This viral post is false and misleading. It is a scam or phishing post designed to deceive users and redirect them to unsafe websites. The claim that US President Donald Trump is preparing to take action against KP Sharma Oli has no factual basis.
