Prakash Moktan Calls for Respect of His Privacy Amid Growing Online Attention

Kathmandu. Prakash Moktan, also known as Kale Tamang, who rose to national attention through the ‘Lost Years’ episode of the YouTube series ‘Herne Katha’ and is now facing increasing stress due to sustained attention from YouTubers and social media users following his reunion with his family. 

The emotional video documenting his long separation and eventual reunion widely resonated with audiences and turned him into a public figure almost overnight. However, Moktan now says that the same visibility has begun to negatively affect his personal life.

In recent TikTok videos, he has expressed frustration over what he describes as repeated intrusion into his privacy. He has particularly objected to questions circulating online about his marriage and other personal matters, stating that his private life should not become public content. “Do I have to ask the journalists even when I get married? Do I not have a say in my own life?” he said, emphasizing his desire to live freely without constant scrutiny. 

Moktan has also accused some YouTubers of visiting his home and questioning his family members about sensitive issues. He specifically criticized a YouTuber named Bijaya Sampang, claiming that he visited Moktan’s village in Khotang to produce content centered on his personal and family life. He questioned the necessity of such coverage, suggesting that it amounted to unnecessary interference.

He further stated that while people have monetized his name and story, he believes he has been portrayed unfairly in online content.

Reactions on social media have been divided. While some users have supported Moktan’s concerns, arguing that his marriage and private life should remain confidential, others have downplayed his objections, claiming that media exposure played a key role in bringing him into the public eye. 

Meanwhile, social media platforms such as TikTok have seen increasing commentary and teasing directed at him, with some users making jokes about his reactions and expressions.

As his story continues to circulate widely online, Moktan appears to be navigating the challenges of sudden fame while also attempting to reclaim his privacy amid intense and persistent public attention.
