Akash Tel and Airtel Launch VoIP Service to Boost Nepal-India Business Communication

Kathmandu. Nepali businesses can now place calls to customers in India using VoIP numbers provided by Indian telecom operator Airtel, without leaving Nepal, following a new strategic partnership between Nepal’s communication management platform Akash Tel and India’s Airtel.

The collaboration aims to strengthen cross-border business and support digital expansion for Nepali enterprises, according to Akash Tel.

Under the arrangement, Nepali companies can make outbound calls to Indian customers using local Indian numbers while operating entirely from Nepal. Akash Tel said the move is designed to improve call answer rates and build trust among Inidan customers, who are more likely to respond to local numbers compared to foreign ones.

“Businesses expanding into India often face trust and connectivity issues when using Nepali numbers. This partnership with Airtel is intended to address that challenge,” the company said.

Akash Tel further noted that the system will allow firms to conduct marketing and sales operations in India at relatively lower costs, without the need to establish a physical office. Call management, tracking, and operations can also be handled through its digital platform, the company added.

Akash Tel Vice President Rajan Koirala described the partnership as a “smart digital gateway” for Nepali businesses entering the Indian market, saying VoIP technology would make communication more officient, measurable, and cost-effective.

The company expects the service to be particularly beneficial for sectors such as BPO, IT, e-commerce, tourism, and exports, calling it a potential “game changer” for cross-border business operations.
