Nepal Infrastructure Construction Company Limied was established under the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to implement large-scale projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and hydropower schemes.
Although the government has presented the company as a vehicle to accelerate major infrastructure development, it has faced criticism for remaining largely ineffective in practice. The Federation of Contractors’ Association of Nepal (FCAN) has also opposed the model, arguing that removing projects from the private sector and awarding contracts without open competition could distort the market.
