Kathmandu. Traffic police have detained and warned a young woman after she filmed a TikTok video without blocking traffic on a narrow road, creating a serious safety risk.
The woman, identified as Bhabana Pun Magar of Bangad, Kupinde Municipality-11, Salyan, was later released after being cautioned by police.
Her video, which went viral on social media, showed her dancing in the middle of the road to the song “Aafo Soch Nasocha Par, Yeti Saro Ghamand Nagara.” In the footage, a microbus carrying passengers on its roof can be seen approaching from behind, while the driver is forced to maneuver the vehicle past her carefully. Police said she had uploaded several similar videos through her TikTok account.
The incident drew widespread online criticism, with many users raising concerns about the dangers posed by such behavior on a narrow, high-risk road.
Acting on complaints received through social media, police summoned Magar under the direction of Mukunda Prasad Rijal, Superintendent of Police and chief of the Highway Security and Traffic Management Office, Surkhet. She was warned not to repeat such acts, with police stating that filming TikTok videos in this manner endangered both her own life and the safety of passengers.
Magar admitted her mistake and pledged not to engage in similar risky activities in the future.
Police also took into custody the driver of the vehicle, as seen in the video, for carrying passengers on the roof. He was released after being warned that strict legal action would be taken if such violations were repeated.
