HackAstra 2026 Cybersecurity Program to Be Held at Herald College

Kathmandu. A cybersecurity program titled ‘HackAstra 2026’ is set to be held at Herald College, Kathmandu. The event is being organized by the college’s ‘Ethical HCK Community,’ targeting students, technology enthusiasts, and cybersecurity professionals across Nepal.

Scheduled to run from May 29 to June 6, the program will begin online before transitioning to in-person sessions in its second phase. The highlight of the event is the ‘Capture the Flag’ (CTF) competition, where participants will tackle challenges such as web exploitation, cryptography, digital forensics, reverse engineering, and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). Organizers said additional sub-programs under HackAstra will be announced in phases.

The CTF competition will be conducted in two stages. An initial online selection will identify the top 12 teams, who will advance to the grand finale, to be held in person at Herald College. Participation is open to anyone interested in cybersecurity, with no specific eligibility criteria, and registration is free.

According to program coordinator Prashun Baral, winners and outstanding participants will receive international cybersecurity certifications such as ASCP, ACP, CASA, and CRTP at no cost. He noted that these certifications can cost up to 450 USD for ASCP and 100 USD for ACP if obtained independently.

Baral said the program aims to provide participants with technical exposure, networking opportunities, certifications, and pathways to further opportunities in the cybersecurity field.

The final phase of the event will also feature panel discussions with cybersecurity experts, technical sessions, and networking programs. Organizers said more details about additional activities under HackAstra will be released in the coming days.
