Kathmandu. The Federal Parliament Secretariat has announced that an electronic attendance (e-attendance) system will be implemented to enhance transparency in the attendance records of federal parliament members, with biometric data collection set to begin from tomorrow.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the Secretariat requested members of various parliamentary committees to report for biometric registration at designated times and locations. It also stated that formal photographs of the lawmakers will be taken during the process.
According to the Secretariat, lawmakers have been requested to attend the biometric registration in formal dress and with the federal parliament logo pin.
The Secretariat said the introduction of the e-attendance system aims to make attendance tracking in parliamentary sessions more transparent, accurate, and efficient. Once fully operational, the system will automatically record MPs’ attendance in real time.
It has also been stated that the attendance records of lawmakers will be made publicly accessible through the official website of the Federal Parliament.
Although biometric data collection had begun in 2080 BS, the system was not fully implemented at the time. The Secretariat has now resumed preparations to complete its implementation.
