Armed Police Seize 590 Cartons of Vapes in Mustang, Three Arrested

Kathmandu. The Armed Police Force has seized two containers carrying a large quantity of Chinese electric cigarettes (vapes) from Eklebhatti in Lomanthang Rural Municipality-4, Mustang, and taken three individuals into custody along with the goods.

The operation was carried out on the night of May 15 when a joint team comprising the Armed Police Force, Nepal Border Outpost Nechung, Nepal Police, and the Mustang Customs Office intercepted the containers en route to Kathmandu via Korala.

Those arrested have been identified as Santosh Lama of Dhunibesi Municipality-1 in Dhading, Phunchudorje Tamang of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2 in Sindhupalchok, and his associate Pasang Sherpa from the same municipality-3.

Authorities said the containers numbered Na 6 Kha 4743 and Na 5 Kha 7921 were found carrying 590 cartons of vape products along with other goods including shoes from various brands, eight sacks of socks, 15 sacks of clothes, and 15 kilograms of empty cartons used for packaging.

According to Armed Police Force spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatt, the arrested individuals have been handed over to Nepal Police for further investigation, while the seized goods have been sent to the Mustang Customs Office for necessary action.
