Kathmandu. The ‘National AI Hackathon 2026’ is set to take place on 6–7 June in Nepal with the objective of promoting and institutionalizing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the country.
Kode Dristi Software Pvt. Ltd. is organizing the 32-hour hackathon at the campus of Nepal College of Information Technology in Balkumari, Lalitpur.
According to the organizers, more than 250 developers, students, researchers, and technology entrepreneurs from all seven provinces are expected to participate in the competition.
One of the major highlights of the event will be a Shark Tank-style investor pitching session. During a post-event program scheduled a week after the hackathon, teams selected as the best performers will get the opportunity to directly pitch their AI-based projects and business plans to investors, established tech entrepreneurs, and business leaders.
The organizers said projects considered commercially viable will receive immediate investment support along with mentorship and guidance for market expansion.
A total of 35 teams selected for the competition will be required to develop innovative and practical AI-driven solutions addressing challenges in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, tourism, and fintech.
The total prize pool for the competition has been fixed at Rs 150,000, including tax. Winning teams will receive cash prizes, trophies, and certificates. Organizers have also said participants will be provided with a secure working environment, high-speed internet, and catering facilities throughout the event.
Registration for participating teams opened on 20 May 2026. Interested groups must complete online registration through the official KodeDristi website by 1 June 2026. The registration fee has been set at Rs 10,000 per team, with each team consisting of two to four members.
