Vigilance Inspection Finds 70 Nepal Telecom Employees Violating Office Rules

Kathmandu. A surprise inspection conducted by the National Vigilance Center has uncovered widespread violations of attendance and dress code rules in government offices, with 70 employees of Nepal Telecom facing disciplinary action in a single day.

The inspection, carried out on Tuesday, monitored government offices for service delivery, employee punctuality, dress code compliance, and workplace conduct.

According to the center, 63 employees at Nepal Telecom's Kathmandu office were either absent from their designated workstations or reported late for duty. An additional seven employees were found not wearing the prescribed office attire.

As a result, a total of 70 employees were recommended for disciplinary action. The concerned authorities have been directed to take action in accordance with the Civil Service Act, 2049, and other applicable laws and regulations, and to report the actions taken to the center.

The inspection also identified similar disciplinary issues in government ministries and departments located within Singha Durbar.

The National Vigilance Center stated that the findings indicate ongoing concerns regarding employee discipline and compliance even within key government institutions responsible for policymaking and public service delivery.

At the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, which oversees the country's technology sector, 10 employees were found absent or late during the surprise inspection.

The center said it will continue monitoring government offices to improve service delivery, accountability, and adherence to administrative standards.
