Kathmandu. Although the National Examination Board (NEB) published the Class 12 examination results on Friday, its official websites experienced technical disruptions, making it difficult for students and guardians to access the results.
When attempting to open the board’s main portal neb.gov.np, users were met with a “502 Bad Gateway” error. Similarly, the result portal result.neb.gov.np displayed “This site can’t be reached, ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT,” preventing access to the results.
Technically, a “502 Bad Gateway” error indicates a communication error between servers, where the gateway server is unable to receive a valid response from the backend system. A “Connection Timeout” occurs when a server fails to respond within a set time limit, often due to overload or connectivity issues.
When the issue persisted, NEB spokesperson Jayanti Satyal said she was not aware of the problem and would respond after understanding the situation.
The board typically publishes results through its official website and also redirects users to Nepal Telecom’s portal. However, on the day of publication, the main website remained inaccessible.
Meanwhile, Nepal Telecom’s result portal neb.ntc.net.np is operational. The board has also provided alternative options, including SMS service to 1600 and IVR service via 1601.
This is not the first time the NEB website has faced such issues. Similar technical problems were reported during previous SEE result announcements, when the portal also experienced a “502 Bad Gateway” error throughout the day, raising concerns over the board’s digital infrastructure and system preparedness.
This year, 64.13 percent of students passed the Grade 12 examinations, including both regular and partial examinees. Among them, 69.75 percent of regular students and 42.38 percent of partial students secured passing grades.
