Journalist Arrested After Assaulting Ward Chair During Public Event in Kanchanpur

Kathmandu. Police have arrested journalist Aishwarya Kunwar on charges of assaulting a ward chairperson during a public event in Kanchanpur.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tek Bahadur Rawat of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Kunwar was taken into custody on Sunday and a case has been registered against her under charges of misconduct.

The arrest comes after a video showing Kunwar allegedly assaulting Rabindra Devkota went viral on social media.

The incident occurred during a public program held at a hotel in Mahendranagar on Sunday. Police said an argument broke out between Kunwar and Devkota during the event, during which Kunwar allegedly assaulted the ward chairperson.

Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
