Suzuki’s first electric SUV, the e-Vitara, arrives in Nepal for testing

Kathmandu: Suzuki has brought its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, to Nepal. A prototype unit of the SUV has been brought for testing.

The vehicle will be showcased at the NADA Auto Show in Kathmandu from August 19. CG Motocorp of the Chaudhary Group, the official dealer of Suzuki in Nepal, said the e-Vitara will be launched commercially in two motor capacities, 105.8 kW with a 49 kWh battery and 128 kW with a 61 kWh battery.

Although it claims a range of 500 kilometers, CG Motocorp said the SUV has yet to be tested on Nepali roads. The e-Vitara is still under testing, and its manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, has not yet begun commercial production. The unit in Nepal was brought by the Chaudhary Group for trial purposes.

The vehicle supports both AC and DC charging. It comes with 18-inch tires, 180 mm ground clearance, and a spare tire.

Suzuki will begin commercial production of the e-Vitara in India on August 26 at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. The SUV is set to launch in the Indian market on September 3 and has already gone on sale in the UK.

The e-Vitara is expected to compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Mahindra BE6, and MG ZS EV. CG Motocorp said details on pricing and booking will be revealed at the NADA Auto Show.
