Deepal S05 SUV Launches in Nepal, Starting at Rs 48.99 Lakh

Kathmandu: MAW Vriddhi, the official distributor of Changan EV in Nepal, has introduced the new electric SUV Deepal S05 for Nepali consumers. Positioned as a blend of luxury, style, and advanced technology, the company believes it will set a new benchmark in the country’s EV market.

The Deepal S05 was recently unveiled by Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song, Changan Auto Southeast Managing Director Shen Xinhua, MAW Vriddhi Chairman Bishnu Kumar Agrawal, and Managing Director Vivek Sikaria at a launch event.

Luxury Design

According to the company, the Deepal S05 delivers a premium feel from the moment you step inside. Both front seats are welcoming, ventilated, and heated, while the “queen co-pilot seat” offers zero gravity mode, leg support, and one-touch nap mode.

To enhance cabin luxury, the SUV features high-quality leatherette upholstery, 64-color ambient lighting, and a 14-speaker Sky Surround Sound System with outdoor speakers. It also offers a 159-liter front luggage compartment, the largest in its segment, for added storage on long trips.

The Deepal S05 has received Europe’s prestigious iF Design Award 2025 for its futuristic aesthetics and aerodynamic engineering, boasting a drag coefficient of 0.258 Cd, the lowest in the SUV segment in Nepal.

Design highlights include a starry-sky-inspired “shark nose” front, spacecraft-style headlights, frameless doors, flush handles, star-feeder LED taillights, and an illuminated rear logo. Its 1,900 mm width and 1,600 mm height give it a commanding road presence.

Advanced Technology

The SUV introduces a segment-exclusive remote in-and-out parking feature, allowing drivers to move the vehicle forward or backward using the key, ideal for tight parking spaces.

It comes equipped with ADAS 2.0 featuring 19 advanced safety functions, including Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Centering Control, and Forward Collision Warning. The segment-first AR Head-Up Display (AR HUD) provides live navigation and key driving information.

Inside, a 14.4-inch sunflower touchscreen with internet connectivity supports Spotify, YouTube, Amazon Music, and live navigation. Users can remotely control AC settings, schedule charging, and track the vehicle via smartphone.

Golden Shield Battery

The Deepal S05 houses the Golden Shield Battery System 2.0 from CATL, the world’s largest battery manufacturer. It offers a lifespan of 5,000 charging cycles (about 600,000 km) and can charge from 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. Even at –20°C, range loss stays below 15%.

With 6 kW V2L capability, the SUV can power external equipment. A rear-wheel-drive layout and 50:50 weight distribution ensure balanced performance. The NEDC range is rated at 470 km.

Price and Variants

The Deepal S05 comes in two variants: Plus and Max.

• Plus: Market price Rs 49,99,000 (introductory price Rs 48,99,000)

• Max: Market price Rs 56,99,000 (introductory price Rs 54,99,000)

It is available in five colors, Moonlight White, Ganymede Gray, Deep Space Black, Andromeda Blue, and Mercury Silver, with interior options in orange or black leatherette.
